Groundworks / Foundations:

Block and beam
Conventional flooring or crawl-space foundations utilise block and beam piers to support the home's subfloor. Block and beam support runs perpendicular to the floor joist providing strength to the interior home.

Ringbeam and pile cropping
Pile foundations are a type of deep foundation. They are formed by long, slender, columnar elements typically made from steel or reinforced concrete, or sometimes timber. A foundation is described as 'piled' when its depth is more than three times its breadth.

Rafts
A raft foundation is a reinforced concrete slab under the whole of a building or extension, 'floating' on the ground as a raft floats on water. This type of foundation spreads the load of the building over a larger area than other foundations, lowering the pressure on the ground.

Why do you power float concrete?
A power float is a hand-operated machine used to produce a smooth, dense and level surface finish to insitu concrete beds. Power floating eliminates the time and materials needed to apply a finishing screed and is quicker and less labour intensive process than hand trowelling
